Welcome Skintellectuals

If there is one product that has saved my skin on countless occasions its La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, its that good of a product almost everyone in the family. my mum, my sister and me all have our own tubes of this miracle wonder cream!

I have used Cicaplast for a good few years now and to those who haven’t used it before i often describe it like the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream on steroids as Cicaplast is a “do everything cream” without the oil or the smell.Unlike the original version of Cicaplast the SPF 50 version isn’t as thick and occlusive which i honestly like, i didn’t think i would but i do.Cicaplast can be used on the face, body, lips bascially anywhere you can think of, It’s great because it can be used by all members of the family from babies right up to adults.

Cicaplast contains Panthenol (also known as Vitamin B5) at 5% which is a fantastic humectant which is able to hold and attract water to the skin, plus Madecassoside,One of four principal bioactive compounds in the plant Centella asiatica which acts as an anti-inflammatory and collagen synthesiser. Copper, zinc and manganese contained also encourages optimal skin recovery, while antibacterial agents ensure long-lasting protection, finally Cicaplast contains a patented ceramide calledProcerad that helps to suppress brown spots due to the excessive production of melanin. Italso helps to clarify and promote an even skin tone. As this is the SPF version it contains the filters homosalate which protects against UVB and octocrylene which protects against UVB and Shortwave UVA. Even though Cicaplast says it is SPF 50 i would still use a dedicated sunscreen like Anthelios SPF 50

I think it works really well because it is so multipurpose as i mentioned before you can use it on things such as: chapped lips, sunburn, dryness, nappy rash, grazes, new tattoos, eczema etc. To give an example on how good Cicaplast is, my mum used it throughout her kidney transplant and hernephrectomy. She used it daily on any broken skin, bruises, irritation and seemed to have cleared up in half the time it would have taken normally for my mum.

Left – (Just after she was released from hospital)Right – (Around 3-4 weeks of daily use of Cicaplast)

The texture of this cream is really nice it feels reallymoisturisingbut its nowhere near as thick as Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, the directions are to apply as much as you need for the part you want to use theBaume on and massage it into the skin then leave it to absorb in. In my honest opinion i feel like this is far better than 8 hour cream because it absorbs better and it isn’t sticky at all and it doesn’t smell. You can get La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 fromBoots for £14*, the tube contains 100ml of product or there is a smaller 40ml size for £6.50*

What do you think of this?Do you like Cicaplast or 8 Hour Cream better?Leave a comment!
